For past updates see here

In February an inspection by Colac Otway Shire revealed that Midway had breached the Code of Forest Practice at this plantation. The following photos reveal what remedial work has been carried out by the company.

March 05: Drainage line of Charleys Creek revealing bulldozed logging refuse and soil. Also note scalped hillside. Allotment 14D Parish of Moorbanool.

March 05: Photo looking into gutted tributary of Charleys Creek. Photo also shows logging debris being removed from Charley's creek. Note also creek riparian which have been bulldozed. Allotment 14D Parish of Moorbanool.

March 05: Bulldozed riparian zones and road located in very close proximity to Charley's Creek. Will the riparian zones be planted with indigenous vegetation and retired from timber production? Or will they be replanted with Bluegum? Allotment 14D Parish of Moorbanool.

March 05: View looking north along Charleys Creek, looking into allotments 14 C and 12B Parish of Moorbanool. Note bulldozing of riparian zone and replanting of bluegum right up to Charleys Creek in places.

March 05: Logging debris has been removed from the creek at this location and stockpiled on riparian zone. Also note high potential of erosion of logging road into Charley's Creek.

March 05: Tributary of Charley's Creek with no buffer to protect water quality from impact of sediment and pesticides.

March 05: Charleys Creek.

March 05: Charleys Creek and stockpiled logging debris probably sourced from debris which was left in creek after logging operations in 2004.

March 05: Erosion hotspot. What will happen to this road in the event of heavy rainfall?

March 05: Culvert replacement ot culvert blowout, Allotment 12B parish of Moorbanool.

Gellibrand River Bridge Blow Out

March 05: Heavy rains in early February caused major damage to this bridge over the Gellibrand River, near Sayers Road. Stormwater must have been as high as the bridge judging by the debris left at the bridge side.
