Slip sliding away... Parish of Barramunga - Otway Ranges. At least 5 seperate landslips are developing on this drainage line that feeds into the Gellibrand River (Warranmbool's water supply), downstream of Stevensons Falls. Weeds also starting to dominate drainage lines.

Such 'dams' can eventually result in a re-routing of creeks, as the trees can entirely block river flows. A re-routed creek then erodes the creek old bank, gouging out huge amounts of sediment in the process.

October 2008

All the following images were taken of Midway Plantations in the Gellibrand River Catchment allotments 4, 4a and 7 Parish of Barramunga about 2km downstream from Stevensons Falls and 1km downstream from Stevensons Falls Camping Area. Midway control about 300ha of plantation in this location, located in the main drinking water supply for the Warrnambool region. This was the site of a pine plantation established by Smogans in the mid seventies. It will now be replanted with bluegum after being sprayed with herbicides such as Simazine.
