Henley Golf Course Updates

March 2006

Feb 28, 2006: Works proceeding in close vicinity to Yarra River. Construction Works will probably continue until June 2006. Note vast quantities of sand being layed onto floodplain.

Feb 28, 2006: A very low Lake L, showing obvious signs of algal build up during summer. Lake L's level had dropped significantly largely due to pumping errors, supposedly 500%+ of water have mistakenly been pumped onto fairways and greens. The course may now have to pump out of the Yarra to make up the shortfall.

Feb 28, 2006: Works continuing on Holes 1 and 18, which will be at most risk in the event of flooding across the floodplain.

Feb 28, 2006: Lakes A and C, showing most of the holes inside the Global Sediment Bund have been largely completed. Note dust plumes coming from construction vehicles.

Feb 28, 2006: The infamous Lake E, showing how close golf holes are being constructed next to this natural wetland.

Feb 28, 2006: Poorly maintained silt fences along western gully near 12th green.

Feb 28, 2006: Dust plumes from vehicles.

Feb 28, 2006: Close up of construction of artifical Lake E, which will be joined to the natural Lake E sometime in the near future.

Feb 28, 2006: Water levels appear to have recently been decreased at this location - most likely pumped after 30mm of rain fell near the site a few days earlier.

Feb 28, 2006: Main levee 'Global Sediment Bund' looks like it doesn't exist anymore at this location. Many vehicles appear to be driving on road that runs alongside where the main levee once was located. A large amount of soil has been used to fill in this area in the foreground.

Feb 28, 2006: Photo showing vehicle travelling downhill, off the main levee road.

Feb 28, 2006: Construction going ahead.
